I wish I could say just slacking off but I'm hoping to read more and be productive this summer (haha, the last part is probably not going to happen .__.). Anyway, I have some book recommendations for you which you will hopefully add to your summer reading list :) There's a perfect blend of informational, classic, and light-hearted! If you have read any of the books, or if you are planning on reading them, let me know in the comments! I would also love to know what type of recommendations you would like to see next.
It would mean the world to me if you subscribed (for email updates, just look at the sidebar on the right) and shared this with your friends :)
There doesn't seem to be a lot of books below but some of them are in a series so you can always pick up the other books as well :) I'm not just recommending the book in the image, I'm recommending the entire series :') I included Goodreads links at the bottom of each book so you can see the summaries and reviews.
This isn't a very new book, but I thought I would include this in here anyway. I've read a few of Dan Brown's books in this series (Angels and Demons, The Lost Code, The Da Vinci Code) and I really want to read the newest one that has come out: Inferno (you may have seen it around). I love these books because they are very well written and suspenseful. I always learn a lot when I read these books because they have a lot of interesting information about symbolism, history, religion, and science. These books are a little long but they are definitely worth a read! Some parts are wordy but trust me when I say it might just be one of the best series you can read! There's also a movie if you're not into reading, although it's hard to cram so much good interesting material into a movie that's less than two hours...:')

Onto a more light-hearted series, the High Heels Mysteries by Gemma Halliday is a blend of romance and mystery. It features a typical slightly air-headed Los Angeles shoe designer named Maddie Springer who ends up helping the police with an investigation. She also meets a very cute cop (I won't spoil too much but I can tell you it's super cute and not cheesy) who she finds herself head over heels for. The series includes other books such as (not in order): Killer in High Heels, Mayhem in High Heels, Alibi in High Heels, and Fearless in High Heels. There are more that I don't really remember (as well as some short stories in between). Some of the books are available for free on Apple iBooks.
And wowow, I though I read the entire series but there's actually a new 8th book out :o That will be definitely on my reading list this summer <3

(The image above shows the Puffin Classics version which is the one I read. I think it might have been slightly modified to more modern English because the original book was written (I believe) in the 1800s. This version is great because it has added information about science in the past and things like that. It also has an introduction written by Diana Wynne Jones.)
Journey to the Centre of the Earth by Jules Verne is definitely a classic and a must-read. It is pretty old, but still a very good and well-written book. I received this as a gift from a friend and thought it would be boring but it's very very very interesting and suspenseful. It makes you think about science and the world that we know. Of course, modern science has proved that it is impossible to travel to the centre of the Earth but this book allows a glimpse back into the past-to the beliefs that were once held by people living in the 1800s. They (or at least the author, Jules Verne, who protested the idea of central heat in the Earth) believed that there was an entire world living beneath our feet.
A very good book. I would recommend it to everyone!

The YOU series is a slightly more informational book, for those who are interested in learning even more during the summer. It includes interesting facts and tips on topics ranging from inner and outer beauty, diets, facial symmetry, and aging. There's illustrations in there too that are cartoon-esque and makes reading about all this information all the more enjoyable. I recommend this because I found if very helpful in relieving stress and other things like that. Dr. Oz is also a very popular show on T.V. that I always watch and I always find the things he talks about interesting because he includes facts as well as home remedies.
